Brief Introduction
China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Jiangsu Sub-Council (CCPIT, Jiangsu Sub-Council), founded in September 1963, is a provincial branch of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and also a nongovernmental foreign trade and economy organization consisting of famous personages, enterprises, associations and organizations in the economic and trade field of Jiangsu Province. It is an institution directly affiliated to and under the leadership of the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province. CCPIT, Jiangsu Sub-Council has also been known as Jiangsu
The main functions of CCPIT, Jiangsu Sub-Council:
(I) To promote foreign trade and economic activities in Jiangsu Province, expand export trade and investment, promote economic and technological exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries, bring the unique nongovernmental diplomatic role into full play, and develop trade contacts with all countries and regions around the world according to the policies and guidelines on foreign trade, economy and foreign affairs established by Jiangsu Provincial Committee of CPC and the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province.
(II) To invite and host the delegations and professionals of economy and trade from abroad, to organize the delegations from the economic and trade fields and the chambers of commerce of Jiangsu Province and the people from economic and trade circles to visit and investigate abroad, to develop exchanges and cooperation with related international organizations, regional organizations, foreign institutions for the promotion of international trade as well as chambers of commerce of foreign countries, to take part in related international organizations and their activities, to organize, participate or hold international conferences on economic, trade and technological cooperation, and legal affairs, to contact with the representative offices established by corresponding foreign organizations in China and the chambers of commerce founded by foreign countries in China, and to send permanent representatives or establish representative offices in foreign countries.
(III) To promote economic and trade exchanges between Jiangsu, and HK and Macao SAR and Taiwan, and to serve for mutual exchanges and cooperation between the said parties under the guidance of the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province and relevant departments.
(IV) To coordinate and manage overseas economic and trade exhibitions of Jiangsu Province, to approve economic and trade exhibitions in Jiangsu Province, to develop relations with the exhibition institutions and organizations of other countries and regions around the world, to sponsor or undertake Jiangsu economic and trade fairs abroad, to take part in international trade expositions and fairs, to undertake or assisting in holding international economic and trade expositions and fairs in Jiangsu Province, to undertake the large economic and trade activities entrusted by the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province, and to approve the foreign conomic and technological expositions held by CCPIT, Jiangsu Sub-Council and its subsidiaries in Jiangsu Province.
(V) To collect, sort, transmit and release domestic and foreign economic and trade information, to establish the economic and trade information network, undertake evaluations and feasibilities studies on Sino-foreign economic and technological cooperative projects, to receive or undertake the economic and trade negotiations, technological and trade exchange and other economic and trade seminars held by relevant foreign institutions and foreign industry and commerce circles in Jiangsu Province, to provide economic and trade information, consultation, credit investigation as well as other services, and conduct publicizing activities for foreign trade
and economy.
(VI) To develop members in Jiangsu Province, to provide services to members and other enterprises, to reflect the conditions and suggestions of these enterprises to the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province and related departments, to study related problems in the economic and trade fields, and offer reference suggestions to the enterprises.
(VII) To provide legal consultation services on international economy and trade, finance, investment, technology transfers, and etc. to domestic and foreign economic and trade enterprises and organizations, to mediate the disputes over commercial and maritime affairs, to be entrusted as agent on arbitration and litigation, to issue the certificates of origin, the certificates of force majeure and the marine shipment documents and bills for the export of China’s commodities, to act as agent on consulate authentication of foreign-related commerce and trade documents, to authenticate the documents and bills of foreign trade and marine shipment businesses, to undertake ATA issue, to submit patent application and trademark registration in China for foreign companies and individuals, and to provide legal and echnological services on intellectual property consultation, disputes, and etc.
(VIII) As the issuing organization of the certificates for import and export management in Jiangsu Province, to take charge of managing the issue of various certificates for import and export management within the range authorized by the competent authority of foreign trade and conomy of Jiangsu province, and to conduct relevant business consultation and training services.
(IX) To instruct and coordinate the work of councils for the promotion of international trade and chambers of international commerce at different levels of the province, as well as industrial chambers of international commerce, to supervise the affiliated institutes and enterprises;
(X) To handle the other work authorized and entrusted by the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province.
