China Pavilion at Osaka Expo highlights Jiangsu Week

The China Pavilion of Expo 2025 in Osaka launched its Jiangsu Week event on May 20 under the theme of partnering with Jiangsu to create a green future.


Fang Wei, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, Li Qingshuang, Chief Government Representative of the China Pavilion and Vice Chairman of CCPIT, Yohei Kono, President of the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade, Nobuhiko Yamaguchi, Vice Governor of Osaka Prefecture, Yoshio Ito, President of the Japan-China Economic Relations and Trade Centre attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Fang Wei inaugurated the Jiangsu Week event. He watched the theme promotional video of Jiangsu Week, which featured the cultural and tourism promotion of “Water Charm of Jiangsu,” as well as the opening ceremony art performance with the guests present. He also visited the China Pavilion and the green development-themed exhibition. Cities such as Wuxi, Xuzhou, Suzhou, Yancheng, Yangzhou and Taizhou made city promotion presentations at the opening ceremony. The Jiangsu Week event also included a dinner with Japanese business leaders and economic and trade exchange meetings.



During the 3-day event, masters of time-honoured crafts showcased Suzhou-style embroidery, pingtan (storytelling and ballad singing), guqin (a traditional string instrument), and Yixing clay teapots. Furthermore, the China Pavilion highlighted other intangible cultural heritage from various cities, such as Nanjing’s Yunjin brocade, Changzhou combs, Taizhou woodcarving, and Xuzhou scented sachets.
