Vice Chairwoman Qiu attended the opening ceremony of Canadian Trade Office in Nanjing
This year is the 40th anniversary of Sino-Canadian diplomatic relations. On March 24, Canada established Canada Trade Office in Nanjing and held unveiling ceremony. Vice Chairwoman Qiu Xiaoping of CCPIT Jiangsu Sub-Council attended the ceremony.
In December Last year, during his visit to China, Canadian Prime Minister announced to set up six new offices in Nanjing, Chengdu, Qingdao, Shenyang, Shenzhen and Wuhan, then the Government of Canada's business office in China would be increased to 11. Canada Trade Office in Nanjing would be managed by Canada business corporation Act of International Trade Canada. Canadian Consul General Benedict said in his speech the Canadian Trade Office in Nanjing would work to strengthen Canada's trade and investment links with Jiangsu, focusing on the promotion of friendly cooperation between Canada and Jiangsu in the agricultural, automotive, biomedical and environmental fields.
So far, more than 170 Canadian companies have invested in the Yangtze River Delta region, most of which located in Jiangsu Province. The establishment of the Canadian Trade Office in Nanjing will support more Canadian companies to do business in Jiangsu, and to assist Canadian companies investing in Jiangsu.
Deputy Mayor of Nanjing Mr. Wang on behalf of Nanjing Government attended the opening ceremony, thought high of the economic and trade cooperation, looking forward to a great room for improvement.
As the Canadian chief representative of 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Dashan introduced the Canada Pavilion after the ceremony.
